![]() When I joined Arbor Park Primary in KwaZulu-Natal we had praise and worship with Marie. We sang beautiful songs that would light up our innocent, happy faces. Come rain or shine we sang in the mornings, I found such joy in these hymns, which I often hum as an adult. Today a day before I turn Thirty-eight years I reflected on the song by Audrey M titled “Fill the world with love” The lyrics are profound and encourage us the to be brave as we fill the world with love “In the morning of my life I shall look to the sunrise At the moment of my life when the world is new And the blessing I shall ask is that God will grant me To be brave and strong and true And to fill the world with love my whole life through” As I step into the noontime of my life, I asked myself “how have I filled the world with love thus far?” I see it my pictures of my youth the moments shared with family, friends and strangers I see it in the coming together of families I see it in the friendships that span time and continents when a friend sends me a post and thanks me for connecting them to a friend. I see it in the joy that is sparked by a well-chosen experience for a friend I have never met I see it in how my son offers hugs and comfort so easily and with such love I see it the respect that we share for each other with the team I lead I see it in the food I have planted, the joy of working the earth with my mother I see it in how my family has shown up for me in my motherhood journey I see it in how my sister is raising the babies I see it in the enjoyment I feel the with ordinary in my life In the 38 years I have realized to disregard that which does not nourish my soul, my existence, and to love myself. By first loving yourself you can then love others in the ways you know best. and stay on track with filling the world with love.
